The Legendary Ventures’ Scouts™ program is a venture program that discovers the next-generation of startups in the venture capital community. Legendary Scouts™ serve as brand ambassadors to represent, source, and support Legendary’s early-stage investments as an affiliated venture partner based on a performance-based, shared economic model for referrals to the firm and its funds. The Legendary Ventures’ Scouts program is viewed as a venture partnership that allows up-and-coming venture capitalists to break into venture financing system by partnering with Legendary to learn how venture firms and funds operate to build their careers in the industry. If selected, Legendary Scouts gain invaluable career-accelerating experience by working with senior partners at the firm and its funds to enhance their experience via deal-flow engagements, including access to some of our private and public events.

How does the program work?

  • We provide Legendary Scouts with a professional advisory (or “P/A”) letter (or  “Agreement”). This Agreement will stipulate the terms of engagement, including earned referral fees from the Partnership in compliance with U.S. FINRA/SEC rules, regulations, and laws governing domestic and international private fund investments as 1099 P/A affiliated venture partner if accepted into the Program.

What are the program benefits?

  • We pay up to fifty (50) basis points for closed referred investments less than $10,000,000 (for example, 1 deal @ $1,000,000 = $5,000) and up to one-hundred (100) basis points for closed referred investments greater than $10,000,000 subject to change at our discretion if required. If Scouts are also students (e.g. graduate/professional studies in a relevant field of study), we also provide educational credits and recommendations as needed. Additionally, Scouts are invited to our exclusive venture-related events and gatherings.

What are the engagement roles/responsibilities?

  • You are expected to represent, source, and support the firm and its funds in a brand appropriate manner with respect to all deals you refer. This includes but not limited to scheduling, attending, managing, and supporting any investment opportunity referred by you to a successful pre/post investment close in compliance with all of our processes, including due diligence and reporting requirements. Conversely, we will take the lead in the closing process and assign a partner to teach you how this process works.

What types of startups does Legendary invest in?

  • We are a highly opportunistic venture capital firm and fund that evaluates consumer-retail-technology startups at all stages of their business life-cycles. Generally speaking, we are industry, model, stage, and round agnostic but more focused on a founder’s track record, the company’s business proposition, and overall deal terms that lean towards investment opportunities with a higher possibility of a liquidity value for our investors over a five (5) year period.

What types of founders does Legendary invest in?

  • We seek honest, hard-working founders who are heavily focused on building their businesses with proven metrics rather than those interested in financially engineering startup rounds with forecasts.

How much does Legendary invest?

  • We negotiate investment packages based on value as each deal is different.

What is Legendary’s deal-flow process?

  • We ask founders to fill out our business questionnaire form and send us a pitch deck to: decks@legendary.fund for their startups initially. Once received, we look at the information to assess the viability of an investment relative to our overall investment philosophy. We then coordinate an initial call with you to evaluate the investment opportunity, including any follow-on calls necessary for demos and/or questions. If interested, we then schedule multiple calls to engage, negotiate, and determine the efficacy of the overall deal with the founders on a more detailed level. If we mutually agree on deal terms, we will help you create an investment term sheet, investment memo, and coordinate any investment materials necessary to close the investment opportunity that would meet or exceed compliance, due diligence and closing requirements between the firm, including its funds and the startup founders. Next, our team will take the lead on the closing process from a finance and legal perspective until the deal is completed. Finally, you will be expected to provide quarterly updates to us on the status of the founders, startups, including their businesses so we can properly manage the investment going forward.

How long does Legendary take to close deals?

  • We average four (4) weeks for domestic (USA) and between one (1) to six (6) months for foreign investments due to compliance, due diligence, and/or reporting requirements based on private fund investment best practices as defined by our finance and legal teams.

How do you source or network deals?

  • We source and network deals in a variety of ways. Our partners have their own sources and networks on the one hand for notable and/or mid-to-late stage companies, while the firm and the fund host exclusive LP/Founder events annually to supplement core deal flow for early-stage startups on the other.
